What is egg freezing?

Egg freezing, also known as mature oocyte cryopreservation, is a method used to save women's ability to get pregnant in the future.

Whom is it recommended for?

Whoever wants to postpone pregnancy for few years as they are busy with the carrier or going through medical treatment for cancer ,chemotheraphy

What is the right age for oocyte freezing?

Always better to freeze the eggs as early as possible as the quality of oocytes keep deteorating every coming year after 30 years

Risk of the procedure?

Same risk as you are going through the stimulation process Post the stimulation you fells bloated ,nauseous breast heaviness and white discharge Bleeding post ovum pick up very rare though Emotional as after this too you are yet not sure whether you will be 100%sucessful.

What is the procedure?

You need to meet the fertility specialist on day 2 /3 of your periods, They will scan you if everything looks good, you will start with stimulation for 11 days Post that eggs will be retrived and frozen

How many times to visit the hospital?

3-4 times for sono and then on the procedure day

Will I need to be admitted?

It’s a day care procedure ,you will be given short general anaesthesia ,you need to get admitted 2 hours before the procedure where they prepare you and once the eggs are retrived you are kept for observation for 2 hours and then sent back home

What are the side effects I should keep a watch for?

You need to call the doctor
If fever more than 101
Pain in lower abdomen
Heavy vaginal bleeding

I am not married am I the right candidate for freezing the eggs?

Yes , dosen’t matter as younger you are chances are better as the results improve with the quality of the eggs

Do I need my parents consent for the procedure?

Not necessary you need to get someone responsible with you to sign the concent
